Church fire in Shreveport, La.

On January 16, 1986, my father and I were driving home in Shreveport, La., from some errands when we noticed a lot of smoke coming from a nearby neighborhood. We dashed home where I grabbed my camera and some film, headed toward the smoke and soon found ourselves at the site of a fire in the process of destroying the office, housed inside a trailer home, of a pastor of an African Methodist Episcopal church. I took a few shots and we rushed the film to The Times, where my dad -- and possibly I -- worked. One of my favorite photographers, Mike Da Silva, took the film, processed it, selected one to run in the paper and then returned the film and a few prints to me. Here is a selection of shots from that roll.
